unhelpful comfortable

Feeling unbearable pain during a dental procedure probably won’t get you many patients as a dentist.

A hot dressing room or stuffy store won’t get many people to come in and shop.

But in a professional setting, seeking comfort might be a problem when team members expect the protocol to shift: accountability gets waived because someone is uncomfortable, or feedback gets softened past the point of being useful. “Meeting people where they are” is no longer empathic leadership but rather an avoidance of facing the real issue at hand, which can be unfair to everyone else on the team who’s expected just to cope.

There is use of accommodation as a management style, and there is accommodation for weaknesses.
