One is calculating. What do I get as a return if I give? How many people that I dislike will show up if I organize a group like this? Am I paid enough to care about someone or something like that?
The other is simply giving: giving your effort, support, wisdom, experiences, empathy, encouragement, or time.
When we choose the latter, we become someone others can count on, trust, or simply feel warm around.
We grow relationships because of care. Not the math.
