the more and the less

The interdependent structure and culture encourage ownership. They are built upon the belief that everyone (or most of the members) is willing to and committed to do their share in the community and contribute to each other’s wellbeing and growth. When every part of this design works the way they are intended, community members have the autonomy, ownership, meaning of their contribution and the best part of being a community: growth and connection as the whole.

To build a community like this takes consideration and efforts. The thought of less structure, less leading and less organizing for more freedom mistakes the nature of the concept. Knowing the core intention of who we are serving and how we might make it better through delivery is the driving force to make the difference.

If responsibility is the condition of our freedom (using the traffic law as the metaphor), the feeling of freedom is the actual result of obeying the law on the road, whether we realize it or not.

Don’t be surprised that the community like this requires a better structure, more leading and more organizing than the ones we grew up with.
