Seth Godin talks about shipping.
The significant aspect of shipping is that once the work is done and shipped (shared with others), it’s possible to have a feedback loop.
This feedback loop happens in three ways: the creator notices their own creative edges (the limits and areas where they can improve); teachers or coaches help us learn; and peers (people around you doing similar work) share their work and insights.
When shipping doesn’t exist, neither do learning and progress.
