It’s not uncommon that we aren’t aware of our self-talk, the story we develop, the tone we use, and the ideas we reinforce over and over.
When I heard someone say that I was a good mom, I couldn’t help but feel relief. The pleasant feeling surprised me because I did care about being seen as a good mom (contrary to what I thought).
The reasons that we feel closer to some people but not others aren’t necessarily because of who they are but our premonition of how much (or little) they understand us - the stories we tell ourselves.
