slow down

One of the challenges we face when we are wrapped up in our emotions is to slow down. Triggering events stimulate our emotions faster than we realize, so slowing down seems out of the question while we are still processing them.

When we don't slow down, we skip the steps and the gaps in between and jump to a conclusion. "See! It doesn't work," we think.

It turns out that taking a small step and closing a small gap requires us to slow down, pay attention, and learn. By making small progress, we eventually get to do what we set out to do.

Sometimes, slowing ourselves down is how we step up and move forward.
