scarcity

Like the word “competition”, scarcity evokes both positive and negative feelings as well.

When our skills are scarce in the society, we get huge benefits for being the best. Clients would pay us a lot more money than the others who do the same line of work, and it’s more likely that our services get noticed and remarked.

But when scarcity is how we view things around us, it might create problems rather than benefits. For example, when we think there is only one way to have our needs met, the chances for that to work only hold 50%. Scarcity drives us to believe there is no other way to get what we need.

It can be the only strategy, or the only measurement, or the only standard... the list goes on and on.

Scarcity can be a mentality and worldview that probably has very little to do with being the best.
