Rock stands, water flows.
Wheel throwing is a great example. On the surface, it looks like the clay sits in the center like a rock, and we act like water to move ourselves to throw. But that's an illusion, and nothing is further from the truth.
It turns out that when we are, and only we are, centered as a rock, we can shape the clay by centering it on the wheel.
Using the same metaphor in our schools, even though students follow instructions and certain rules, they are the rock - the center of the service. Instead of students serving schools, schools need to serve students and people.
