At our pottery studio, we often heard people say that they failed to center their clay, made mistakes in pulling, or their projects collapsed. Failure brings self-blame, disappointment, and other negative self-talk. But doing things that might not work doesn’t have to feel that way.
When we change how we see things we tried and didn’t work, we are more willing to try new things and ideas. Finding power from “not working” is how we redefine failure: not by the outcome but by stopping trying.
My book wasn’t ready for launch on October 31. Instead of feeling like a failure, I wrote this piece on Substack.
Our team aims to launch it on November 28, Thanksgiving day. We keep trying.
