Contrived positivity harms. Instead of countering negativity, it undermines honesty.
When you (we) can’t be honest about the problems we have and need to change, merely maintaining positivity leads to more problems and declines over time.
Contrary to what we assume, positivity doesn’t mean avoiding and denying mistakes, problems, and regrets. Instead, positivity is a choice. After we recognize the problems and mistakes that we made, how can we address them to improve and change for the better?
Honest positivity creates forward motion and momentum, the very reason we need positivity in the first place.
