perception and trust

Knowing the role we play in a project, business, or even an event helps us see our responsibilities, boundaries, decisions, and trajectory of the path forward.

There is the role we take on, and the role others perceive us as truly playing.

The best way to lead our community is to align the two so that, without a doubt, people understand who they look up to, interact with, connect with, and contribute to.

Stepping back from leading (when we choose the leading role) not only creates confusion for people who decided to work with us from the start but also undermines the trust we have built with them.  

Once we lose their trust, it's much harder to recover from it.
