lunar new year

Compared to the solar year calendar, the lunar year focuses on the changing seasons to remind people of the farming cycle, daily life, and well-being.

The lunar calendar used to be accurate about when the weather would warm up or cool down, how to dress, and what to eat to help us through the transition and celebrations.

Climate change has made all the difference; as a result, we do not depend on the lunar calendar to explain the sudden warmth or temperature drop, but learn to adapt to what’s happening around us.

Lunar New Year is the time we honor and show gratitude to people who came before us: family ancestors and those we respect.

Lunar New Year also marks the start of a new cycle for good wishes, health, and wealth, however people define them.

It's the time when we celebrate with family and loved ones to reconnect and with the community. Like the solar new year, the lunar new year brings new hopes.

Happy New Year (the year of the horse)!
