Choosing to be a leader means you have an opportunity to do things differently. You know the status quo, and you explore better alternatives.
But the status quo persists (that’s why it’s status quo), which pulls people (including those around you) to do business as usual. When we aren’t paying attention, we let ourselves drift away from what we set out to do.
The mirroring effect pushes us into the comformity. And following that gets us into trouble.
Catch ourselves in those moments, even if it means standing (leading) alone.
