It can be a marvelous reminder of humanity. That we share something together. That we see each other. That it’s irreplaceable regardless how everything else has changed, evolved or advanced.

In today’s Boston Philharmonic Beethoven Symphony No. 9 concert at CarnegieHall which I watched thousand miles away through live streaming, I experienced something unexpected through the performance led by Benjamin Zander, especially towards the end.

The orchestra, soprano, mezzo-soprano, tenor and baritone were wonderful, but the choirs from Chorus Pro Musica and Boston University’s Marsh ChapelChoir were the highlight of the show with Ode to Joy.

The collective sound and vibration carried passion, belief and hope for possibilities of everyone on the stage that came through my laptop and touched my heart. We, everyone who is in Carnegie Hall, streaming audiences worldwide and the performers became this unified experience where the sameness remained and the differences disappeared.

Warmth rushed through my body along with singing that brought tears over and over. When I looked through the lens of the live streaming cameras, I realized that I wasn’t alone. The performers on the stage looked elated and moved by what they have created alongside us.

Our individual life experiences became one.

Right here.

Right now.

Mr. Zander has created something that I have never experienced before.

And it's beyond extraordinary.
