individual and community

The confusion in building a community often lies in balancing what the individual wants with what works for the whole.

The conflicts are real, and solutions are possible. Learning the difference is especially crucial when building systems in a community.

One trap is letting the personal relationship get in the way of the evaluation process. Satisfying and pleasing one person or a small group that conflicts with the greater good poses a danger that threatens the well-being of the whole.

The tension between what's convenient and what's right requires courage to take a stand.

We can't build a community with beliefs and values that only serve the self. It's OK if that's all they care to do. Just don't call it a "community" when it's not.
