hearing "no"

We notice our ego in almost any interaction with others. Among all the situations, hearing “no” is challenging for many of us. It shows up as flat-out rejection, silence without explanation, or avoidance of contact in any form…

One way to see it is to understand that “no” for now doesn’t mean “no” in the future. When we know that our project or work offers value and changes people’s lives, we stick to our knowing and keep going even when it feels so hard.

Another helpful way to see it is to shift our perspectives. Turning our expectations to gratitude and not taking it personally. We are grateful for the opportunity to talk about our work even though people have not yet realized its value.

Hearing “no” isn’t easy, but taking “no” personally and letting it create self-doubt hurts us more.
