Connection fills our empathy cup with warmth, joy, and all the positive feelings about being us.
Empathy shows up in different ways, and the following are a few to get us started:
Verbal agreement – someone tells you they align with your words and thoughts.
Listening to you – even when you are emotionally overwhelmed.
Getting what you need – rest, food, water, and anything to help you with physical comfort.
Action to support – purchasing your work, voting for you to be the next leader, attending your group events, and joining your meetings, etc.
Caring – a message to see how you are doing, a phone call, a card on your birthday, or an invitation to have coffee, etc.
Imagining/guessing - what you would feel when this happened, and what you might experience when that occurred.
…
There are many ways our empathy cup gets filled, making us feel less lonely and a little (or a lot) happier with ourselves. With that, we can show up for those around us.
