Equanimity reflects inner stability, calmness, and emotional resilience. It's a balance achieved through emotional training and the learning and practice of empathy and compassion. It’s a space between triggers and the response.
Because it offers emotional and inner bandwidth, we have the capacity to learn about our own life experiences and extend this learning to understand and imagine other people’s situations and challenges. This understanding further reinforces our observations, evaluations, and perspectives.
As an emotional regulator, it allows us to plan for long-term outcomes, sharpen our perspective and insights, and stay grounded and connected with ourselves and the world around us.
Some argue it’s merely a matter of balance, but when considering both breadth and depth, equanimity is what we need.
