empathy shift

For Nonviolent Communication self-connection practice, shift is the term we use to describe our state of being from being triggered, disconnected, fight or flight to being centered, self-connected, grounded and open. Shift is the clear line between the former with low empathy and capacity and the latter with higher empathy and capacity.

Shift is a big deal.

It turns out that empathy shift isn’t just a useful skill to practice and master in self-connection, but the way we show up everywhere else.

Until we learn how to support self by filling up our own empathy cup, it’s challenging to know what it looks like to support the others.

Most of the time, empathy isn’t about communication, but the willing energy.
