emotion responsibility

We don’t talk about this enough as a society.

When I first learned about emotion responsibility and heard that I am responsible for my own feelings regardless of what the others have done, I couldn’t believe it. Wouldn’t that encourage more bad behaviors from the other party? I worried.

It turns out that it’s not about punishing the bad behaviors but shifting the focus back to myself and take actions to meet my own needs. By focusing on self, we turn away from blaming the others yet still hold people accountable.

By taking the responsibility of our own emotions, we change the habit of blaming.
