control and acceptance

In Seth Godin’s interview with Christian McBride, the jazz player said originality is about acceptance. Accepting who you are.

Control and acceptance are the two sides of the same coin.

The balance between the two is the point: what do we control? And what do we accept?

Too often, we mistake acceptance as a one-way street. But all acceptance starts with self-acceptance.

When we genuinely accept ourselves, we embrace our imperfections, acknowledge our true selves, and recognize the areas where we want to improve and grow over time.

Only with this do we have a chance to discover our creative voice, the deepest empathy (not pity) and compassion in ourselves and our audiences, and lead.
