Conflicts are unavoidable. Even with the same goal, people who value different things choose different strategies that are often in conflict.
When disconnection happens, three things need to take place before we start to reconnect:
1. A clear understanding of disconnection – name the disconnection and call the time out.
2. Conditioning the parties involved by helping everyone increase their empathy capacity so people can see the other party through an empathic lens instead of a triggered lens.
3. A clear understanding of the disagreement, being ready for others’ points of view and agreeing to explore possible solutions together.
Helping everyone get on the same page for reconnection is half of the success in conflict resolution.
