comparison vs. connection

When I first heard the question, “Which kid is easier for you among your children?” I had to pause and process. It’s not asking: “Which kid is your favorite among your children ?” (I hate that question), but to name the kid who behaves more like me. Unlike the second question, the first question is about evaluation. When I think deeper, both are comparisons.  

When there is a comparison, we need to ask these questions: what is it for? And how does that affect our relationship with people whom we compare with? Because regardless of the goals, comparing human beings leads to negative emotions.

There are many ways to learn about ourselves and our connection with children, such as feelings and needs or life experiences. And none of them requires comparison.
