We see the same reality when we drive on the road. At the crossroads, the traffic light directs everyone when to stop and when to go. All of us are on the same page, so we get to the places where we desire to go.
Having a shared reality helps us understand each other.
When communicating with people, especially people we just met, creating a shared reality is the first step before forming a deeper relationship. We use words.
It’s easy to assume the words others use mean the same as we think. But that might not be the case. For example, the word "self-esteem" means self-confidence and self-respect for some, but how we value ourselves for others. Another example, people often talk about “learning” while the whole time they mean "studying".
Shared reality is how we build meaningful connections, and that requires clear communication.
