And there is another kind of calculation: only put in the effort, or even less, for what we are paid for. If I do this for you, what do I get in return? How to maximize the personal gain from the given situation, regardless of the costs to the collective?
The truth is that everyone can calculate. But not everyone chooses to do that.
In fact, more people choose the opposite – giving without calculating. Because they believe that’s how you build something that benefits everyone.
