boundary and trust

Boundary and trust may sound like they will work against each other, but they go hand in hand.

Being able to hold boundaries makes building deeper trust possible. When the meeting is scheduled from 1 pm to 2, ending it on time builds trust in the team when we say we value everyone’s time.

A healthy relationship doesn’t require us to eliminate all boundaries. On the contrary, people who respect our boundaries are often more consistent with trust and stable relationships. It is the people who get angry when we say no to something that shows how they handle not getting their way by pushing against the boundaries.

When we know where each of us stands, we feel safe about being ourselves and can count on others to respect and honor our limits and needs.
