Emotional regulation is essential when we want to focus on work that matters.
But emotional regulation isn’t easy. It is a hard thing to do, especially when we feel being wronged.
There are two ways to process anger. To regulate and cope is one. To hold on or lash out is another.
One way to regulate anger is to take time to process the feelings and needs – support yourself with empathy and time- to understand, process, and eventually shift and leave it behind.
Lashing out never solves anything but creates more problems. I received an angry letter from a customer at our studio. Once I read her anger, the letter became less effective to communicate and understand.
Anger is not the change. And never will be.
