Our capability to listen is significantly reduced when we are emotionally triggered and disconnected.
And this capability disappears while our emotional disconnection escalates.
Just as we need to step out of fruitless arguments so we can reconnect and regroup with ourselves through self-empathy, when we are emotionally triggered, we need to walk away, as we lose our capacity to listen and communicate effectively.
Being able to listen isn’t just a decision (logical thinking) or action; it's a result of the empathy we can extend to others.
