Competition helps people get better. Race gives children an idea of where they are and where they want to be. Because of the nature, the results show up as 1st place, 2nd and 3rd place, etc.
It’s easy to view the results as who is up and who is down, but it can be another way if we choose to - a helpful way.
Instead of winning or losing, what if seeing the result as an opportunity for kids to learn what’s working and what’s not about themselves? Would it open the door for them to see the same for the others? Will it become celebrating excellence, learning, and thriving?
After all, investing in other people is just as important as investing in themselves even when they are in the same race. The better the others are, the more we learn and help each other to get better while racing together.
